I’m delighted to share my essay about the history of Washington state parks, just out on HistoryLink this week. Their editors found some terrific photos to go with the piece. And keep an eye out for a sidebar about the first state parks, to be published soon.
If you’re not familiar with HistoryLink, take some time to explore this priceless resource. And enjoy the essay!
Lauren,
I read your Parks history post and well done. I would like to comment as someone working around the history of State Parks along the Coast that no mention of Dan Evans and Parks, his work on the coast or the SCA catches my eye.
Some good history here.
Thank you
John, thank you for your kind words. I agree the SCA is important in the history of state parks, as are many other things that space precluded from inclusion. I have written extensively about the SCA in other essays on my blog, and I think you’ve just given me a good idea for a new HistoryLink piece!
